When I got the phone call that Will Jarvis wanted to come to Buon Vino to introduce some of his exclusive winery only wines I could not have said "yes!" quicker. It is such an honor to have him and this will be the first time we have Will at Buon Vino for an intimate tasting with 30 of your closest friends.
Will, will feature the current release of his Chardonnay, and Estate Cabernet as well as a few other surprises. He is personally bringing with him a back vintage of 2007 Reserve Cabernet... yes, I said 2007! And the first vintage of the “ Jarvis wine of the century”, the Dimitri Tchelistcheff Reserve (DTR) which retails at $800! This is obviously a tasting you are NOT going to want to miss.
Because this is such a rare treat we have decided to open it up to two tastings at 4:30pm & 7:00pm so grab your seat while you can as these tickets will fly!
2018 Jarvis Estate Finch Hollow Chard, Napa Valley
Fermented in new French oak and sur-lie aged for 11 months with weekly stirring, the resulting wine is a beautiful medley of a superb vineyard site and our winemaker’s meticulous winemaking. Delicate aromas of apple and pear progress to caramelized brioche flavors that are followed by a finish that is weighty, long, and rich.
2014 Jarvis Estate Cabernet, Napa Valley
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from the hillside estate vineyards following a somewhat demanding growing season. The result is a beautiful expression of the difficult challenge of crafting a truly varietal correct wine. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon celebrates all of the hard work in the vineyards and meticulous winemaking that brought it to life. Elegantly nuanced with a velvety texture, this opulent vintage is abounding with flavor. Round and refined with polished tannins and complexity, the palate is delighted as the wine makes its way to an incredibly long finish.
2007 Jarvis Library Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
A designation used only when a vintage deserves, this reserve is definitely worthy. Almost a decade after bottling, it offers an intensity of chocolate, cinnamon and clove against soft, mellowed and structured tannin. Dusty sage and a bramble of blackberry complete the picture
2012 DTR Dimitri Tchelistcheff Reserve, Napa Valley
Described as “the Jarvis wine of the century” by William Jarvis, the Dimitri Tchelistcheff Reserve was a project started in 2012 by our founding winemaker, Dimitri, along with William and his son Will. This culminated in the creation of a new wine that represents the pinnacle of what our estate has to offer and we are pleased to present the first vintage of this wine.
The growing season in 2012 yielded exceptional quality fruit with remarkably high phenols along with prominent tannins, such that even after 29 months of aging in new French oak barrels, Dimitri felt the wines required additional aging. Following his suggestion, we aged the wines for an additional 5 months in a second set of new French oak barrels, which is unheard of! The protocol was a first at Jarvis and we
believe the resulting wine to be the highest expression of the microclimates on the estate and Dimitri’s legacy.
